Why Is Medavakkam Chennai Famous?

Medavakkam is famous as one of South Chennai’s fastest-growing residential and transport hubs. It sits between the OMR IT corridor, Tambaram, Velachery and Pallikaranai. Medavakkam–Sholinganallur Road gives direct access to ELCOT SEZ and major IT offices near Sholinganallur. The area also has Chennai’s 2.03 km Medavakkam flyover, which links the Tambaram–Velachery route and allows vehicles to avoid three busy junctions. Chennai Metro Phase II Corridor 5 will add Medavakkam I and Medavakkam II stations, with further links towards Perumbakkam, ELCOT and Sholinganallur. These job, road and metro links are the main reasons Medavakkam is famous and in demand for housing.
Medavakkam’s housing growth is also attracting large apartment townships such as the proposed Prestige Falcon City Chennai. The project is planned on Medavakkam–Sholinganallur Road, close to Global Hospital, ELCOT SEZ and the OMR employment belt. Current pre-launch details describe a 23-acre development with 22 towers, about 2,170 apartments and 2, 3 and 4 BHK homes. This makes the project a clear example of how Medavakkam is changing from a suburban housing area into a major premium residential market. However, the project size, unit count, prices and launch dates must be confirmed through the final Tamil Nadu RERA registration and official Prestige documents.
