South Chennai

South Chennai is a large part of the city managed by the local corporation. It sits right next to the beautiful Bay of Bengal. • Metro Rail Network: The new Metro Phase 2 project brings Corridor 3 directly into OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road). It will have important stations at Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, and Sholinganallur, making travel easier in these busy IT areas. The Blue Line Metro will also connect smoothly toward the airport side, helping people travel faster between OMR and other key parts of the city.
• Trains: The local suburban train line runs from Chennai Beach to Tambaram. It serves western neighborhoods like Chromepet and Pallavaram. The separate MRTS train line goes straight to Velachery.
• Air and Bus Hubs: The Chennai International Airport is located right on the western edge of this zone. Long trips are easy thanks to the Tambaram train station and the new Kilambakkam bus terminus.
